Important notes for students not on a student visa

If you are on an F2 or other non-student or non-scholar visa, then you do not need to obtain travel approval from ISSS. However, you do need to get approval from the ELI. (If you will travel inside the USA and you will not miss classes, you do not need permission. F-2 dependents who are not ELI students also do not need permission.)

You cannot return late to the ELI.

If you do not check in and pay your bill on time, you will not be able to change your classes.

You will receive a message by email with the decision.

You cannot return late to the ELI.

If you try to return later than the date on your permission, you may have to skip the session (take a Leave of Absence). In this case, your I-20 and visa will be terminated and you will have to get new ones in your country.

Also, if you are not present on the morning of Opening Day to pick up your schedule for any session, you cannot change your classes.

If you will travel inside the USA and you will not miss classes, you do not need permission.

F-2 dependents only need to do this form if they are also ELI students.

By submitting this form, I understand and agree to the following:

•   I cannot miss classes because of this travel unless I have written permission from the ELI.
•   If I have permission to miss classes because of my travel, I will be marked absent for those classes and must get permission in advance from my teacher(s) to make up any missed classwork.
•   I have read the ELI’s attendance policy in my Student Handbook and I understand how absences affect my visa status.
•   If I have a sponsor, the ELI will tell my sponsor about my travel plans. I also understand that I am responsible for getting permission from my sponsor to travel.

If I plan to miss classes, I must have ELI permission to travel, even inside the USA. I will be marked absent for each class that I miss.

Certain visas (such as F1) are only allowed vacation after 8 months of continuous study.

I understand that if I return late from travels, I may be asked to skip an entire session.

Students who need to take leave after week one of a session may be responsible to pay tuition for that session.

I understand that international travel is not advised at this time due to health risks, likelihood of quarantine, and possible travel restrictions.

I understand that it is my responsibility to access and attend all of my classes. Attendance will be recorded for all classes. If I am unable to access my classes, I must contact the ELI Registrar and my advisor to discuss a leave of absence.
