Music Admissions

Who needs to audition?

All prospective undergraduate music majors must audition as part of their application to the University of Delaware.  Non-music majors  interested in taking private lessons through the Merit or Honors Private Study programs, minoring in music, or playing in Department of Music ensembles may audition the day before classes begin each fall and spring semester.

 

What music should I prepare for my audition?

Audition repertoire varies by instrument. Please visit Audition Repertoire Requirements for details.

 

What else, besides music, should I prepare for my audition?

Some music majors require additional application materials, such as a writing sample (Music Theory and Music History and Literature majors), an interview (Music Education and Music Composition majors), or a secondary instrument audition (Pianists and Guitarists wishing to major in Music Education). 2017-2018 Auditions: January 30th, January 31st, and February 1st, 2018.
