Join the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources for an individualized weekday visit. We are offering in-person tours hosted by our very own Ag Ambassadors (current students) showcasing our premier 350-acre on-campus farm and top-notch facilities. Learn about our educationally rich environment, the numerous majors and minors offered, opportunities to join student clubs and organizations and more!
Our majors and visit experiences are as unique as your interests. Check out our six different visit types and choose the one that’s right for you. We will create an individualized visit that is specific to your interests. Plan to spend an hour to an hour and a half with us.
IMPORTANT: Visits are based on faculty and/or Ag Ambassador availability, therefore your assigned appointment date and time are not official until you receive an email confirmation with your visit details.
Environment, Economics, Business, and Statistics VisitEnvironmental & resource economics, food & agribusiness marketing & management and statistics major interests: The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at UD puts a twist on various disciplines such as business, economics, environmental science, and mathematics to create unique curriculums of study that are applicable to the world around us. Come learn about the Applied Economics and Statistics Department, the opportunities that abound and the employers who are waiting for our graduates. Environmental & resource economics and food & agribusiness marketing & management major interests: Meet with a faculty member and a current student in the major to learn more about the coursework, research, internships and career opportunities these exciting majors include. |
The Science of Food VisitFood science interests: Have you ever wanted to create new flavors for your favorite foods? Do you think about how food is processed and packaged to maintain the best shelf life? Have you ever wondered how a food-borne outbreak is investigated? Science plays a very important role in something we all do every day…eat! Visit with a student Ag Ambassador who can help you learn about what it means to be a food scientist and the experiences you will have at UD. A stop at our very own UD Creamery will be included on this tour. |
Behind the Seeds VisitPlant science, sustainable food systems, landscape architecture interests: Plants and soil are often overlooked as living things, but their science is critical to our quality of life. How can you take what you learn in the classroom and work in a field filled with endless possibilities? Come take a walking tour with one of our Ag Ambassadors through our gardens, greenhouses, and labs (including our landscape design lab) where groundbreaking research and teaching is being done each and every day. |
It’s a W i d e, Wild World Out There VisitInsect ecology & conservation and wildlife ecology & conservation interests: Do you like being outdoors and observing wildlife? Have you always loved visiting zoos? Are you fascinated with how wild things work and the role they play in our world? Or, are you interested in the interaction wildlife has with humans and the environment? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, come learn about how the majors in the Department of Entomology and Wildlife Ecology can take you places. Highlights will include a visit to our classrooms and labs. If you choose a meeting with a faculty member, your visit may even include a sneak peak of our preserved insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammal collections. |
Explore Our World VisitGeneral agriculture and environmental sciences and Agriculture and Natural Resources (interdisciplinary major) interests: If you’re interested in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and aren’t quite sure which of the many areas in the field you would like to pursue, this visit is for you. If you’ve taken some environmental classes and think you might want a major related to the environment, come explore our world. A student Ag Ambassador will give you some insight into the many majors we offer, including our interdisciplinary major that shares the name with our college, agriculture and natural resources. Through the Looking Glass: the Biology of Animals VisitPre-vet, animal science and animal bioscience interests: Discover the science behind animals. Do you know that cows have four stomachs that give them the ability to digest more fiber than any other domesticated creature? Or what diseases are common among animals and humans and what impact this may have on you? Spend time with a student Ag Ambassador visiting our on-campus UD Dairy, poultry, sheep, beef, and equine facilities. As you prepare for veterinary school, hear how this part of campus will be your most important hands-on classroom—an integral part of your studies here at UD. An Ag Ambassador will join you in your vehicle for part of this tour. |
